Embracing new horizons

My transition from client-side to agency-side

Posted 23/09/2024 by Jennifer Keating

After three fulfilling years of commuting between Dublin and Naas, working with the talented team at Aldi Ireland, I’m now embarking on an exciting new chapter in my career – one that brings me closer to the creative energy I’ve always been drawn to. But before I dive into the dynamic world of agency life, let me share some of the experiences that have shaped my journey so far.

At Aldi, my role involved project management and close collaboration with the Buying Teams, where our goal was to consistently deliver outstanding results through our agency partnerships. The environment was dynamic and fast-paced, with a strong focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Throughout my time at Aldi, I developed a deep appreciation for the creativity and energy that agencies bring to the table. I found myself increasingly drawn to the collaborative spirit and innovative atmosphere that seemed to define the agency world. So, when a chance encounter with Danny, a charismatic Yorkshireman (and future partner), led me to explore opportunities in Bradford, I knew it was time to pursue a long-held aspiration: joining a creative agency.

During my years at Aldi, I had the pleasure of working with several great agencies, and I quickly realised that Yorkshire is a hub of talent and creativity. Applying for a position at Aura was a no-brainer for me. Aura’s fantastic reputation, particularly within Aldi, coupled with my own positive experiences, made the decision an easy one. I was eager to become part of a team that embodies the perfect blend of creativity, efficiency, and excellence.

From the moment I stepped into Aura for my interview, I was struck by the warmth, enthusiasm, and experience of everyone I met. The induction process only reinforced these impressions, as I was welcomed into a community where people have dedicated years, sometimes decades, to the company. It was clear that Aura fosters a culture where people feel valued, and many who leave often find their way back, which is a true testament to the positive and supportive environment here.

What makes Aura stand out is not just the high quality of work or the impressive turnaround times, but the unique mix of creativity, logical thinking, and a commitment to innovation and sustainability. I already love the sense of empowerment and the opportunities for growth, where every voice is heard and valued.

Of course, there are new challenges ahead – building relationships, continuous learning, and proving myself in this new environment. But I’m excited to embrace these opportunities and contribute to Sun’s ongoing success.

As I embark on this new journey, I look forward to the adventures that lie ahead, confident that I’ve made the right choice in joining Aura. Here’s to new horizons and the exciting possibilities that come with them.
