Packaging legislation, such as guidance on materials or labeling requirements, can differ from one territory to the next. It also changes over time.
This requires up-to-date research and the necessary innovations to ensure compliance in the future. However, for many businesses that export worldwide, it can make packaging management extremely challenging. Twinings operate across multiple markets globally.
The markets were segmented and prioritized according to the task at hand, to highlight the legislation that existed in each area, this included:
- Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)
- Substrate restrictions
- Fee mitigation
- On-pack labeling
Having outlined the current compliance requirements, we then explored the changing packaging landscape to ensure Twinings could plan for future obligations. This work involved:
- Benchmarking recommendations on legislative requirements globally
- Researching non-governmental organizations (NGOs), retailer strategies and completing a competitor analysis
Working together with Twinings, we’ve created a strategic packaging road map for the business to implement immediately, whilst also highlighting future obligations.
As a result, the business has the ability to:
- Progress with a road map that ensures compliance for 2025 through to 2030
- Deliver compliant new product development (NPD)
- Budget with future obligations in mind
